Boost

A condition of increased air pressure created by a supercharger or turbocharger, usually measured at the intake manifold. Boost forces more air into an engine, so it can burn more fuel and make more power.

Boost Gauge

An instrument designed to measure boost in an intake manifold.

Boost Valve

A device that works against a pressure regulator valve to increase mainline pressure when needed

Booster Battery

A charged battery connected to a discharged battery in order to start the engine.

Booster Cables

A term used for jumper cables.

Booster Seat

Booster Venturi

A device in a carburetor that mixes fuel with incoming air.

Boot Disk

Term for bootable diskette; a diskette from which you can boot your computer. Usually your computer boots form the hard drive however, if the hard drive is inaccessible you can boot the computer from a bootable diskette usually in the "A" drive.

English term for Trunk lid
