Bug Guard

A paint protection product, also known as a hood shield, which also keeps bugs off a vehicle's windshield. Bug shields can cover only the leading edge of the hood, or they can protect the leading edge of the fenders, as well. Keeping bugs off the vehicle protects the paint, because dead bugs can be quite acidic and can actually etch into paint. Bug shields come in a variety of styles and materials, but most are made of some kind of polymer (plastic). They typically are available in a smoke hue or in clear, and the clear versions can be painted to match your vehicle. Some companies also offer bug shields made from polished stainless steel. In addition, one style of bug shield acts as an air foil, redirecting airflow through it, so the air travels up and over your vehicle. This reduces the amount of air and debris that hits your windshield, and can even remedy such problems as windshield wiper flutter when you're traveling at highway speeds.
