Abbreviation for compound vortex controlled combustion. This relates to a cylinder head design used by Honda, which incorporates a small auxiliary combustion chamber in each cylinder. A rich mixture initially is ignited in the auxiliary chamber, and it subsequently expands to fire a much leaner mixture in the main combustion chamber.
