Global Positioning System
Abbreviated GPS. GPS technology uses U.S. government satellites to calculate a location. By using the precise time and the exact positioning of three satellites, a GPS unit on earth can calculate exactly where it is (including its elevation, latitude and longtitude) to within 100 feet. This technology is used in navigation systems to help drivers determine their location and find their way to a particular destination.
