Graphic Equalizer
A type of equalizer for a sound system that allows the user to adjust tonal response at each frequency band. The more bands a graphic equalizer has, the more precisely the sound can be adjusted. For example, a 10-band graphic equalizer allows adjustment at each octave. A 30-band unit allows adjustment down to 1/3 octave, which is considered the ultimate unit. Graphic equalizers that have five or seven bands of tonal control usually can be set by ear, while units with 10 or more bands of tonal control require a real-time analyzer to set them properly. A program interface that takes advantage of the computer's graphics capabilities to make the program easer to use such as Microsoft Windows.
